Afro Hair Tips with a few skin tips thrown in

You are what you eat, below are some tips to help with hair health.

Nuts, Egg Yolk, Spinach: These foods are packed with vitamin E, which promotes hair growth by increasing scalp circulation.

Salmon, Shrimp, Coconut Oil, Flax Seeds: The Omega-3 fatty acids in these foods prevent hair loss by reinforcing the hair’s proteins. (Even better, they are known to prevent the growth of cancerous cells in the body.)

Dryness is the main culprit behind breakage and frizz. There are lots of foods that can help moisturize your hair and scalp. Try adding pumpkin seeds, ginger and raw oysters to your diet. The zinc in these foods helps prevent dryness by encouraging cell reproduction. You can also try broccoli, tomatoes, citrus fruits and strawberries

How many of you exfoliate your scalp? Did you know that exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells, product buildup, as well as excess sebum? Dead skin cells, buildup and the likes can all cause inflammation [aka; an itchy, flaky scalp], which can later lead to thinning hair, and even hair loss [in fact, inflammation is one of the number one causes of hair loss in women today].

Another culprit for hair loss is products loaded with PETROLEUM. Petroleum “seals” off the scalp, thus trapping dead skin, bacteria, and perspiration under the layer of petroleum, which can also result in inflammation of the scalp; and later hair loss.

Here’s A Great Scalp Exfoliant Recipe:
Mix 2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar + 5 tablespoons of Jojoba Oil and 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil in a small bowl. Massage the exfoliant mixture gently onto scalp with the balls of your fingertips [do not scratch] for about 1-2 minutes. Rinse well with cold water, then follow up with an ACV rinse to remove any additional product residue.[exfoliate 1x weekly]

Effective natural solutions to fade unsightly blemishes:

Lemon Juice + Manuka Honey mixture: Lemon juice has long been praised for its ability to lighten dark blemishes. – Apply lemon juice to the affected area, allow to dry, then apply a small amount of Manuka honey over the area you applied the lemon. Manuka honey is naturally enriched with lactic acid which is very helpful for lightening skin blemishes. Manuka honey also has strong medicinal and antibacterial properties which makes it very effective in eliminating issues with acne and maintaining an even skin complexion [use twice daily].

  1. Also, another tip is to treat dandruff naturally, massage a solution of white vinegar with warm water, you could make it stronger by adding lemon juice. Massage into scalp and leave for bout 30 minutes, wash out. Try to use less harsh shampoos also such as baby shampoo. You should see results within a couple weeks.

Avoid using too much hair products, use things that are as close to nature as possible, I mainly use extra virgin organic coconut oil.
